Most people with detailed knowledge of the chemistry of skin care recognize that goats milk soap is one of nature’s best skin care providers. That is because the chemical make-up of goats milk soap yields all kinds of helpful compounds including emollients, vitamins and a unique glycerin called capryllic triglyceride. The formulation of goats milk soap is such that it’s pH of about 6.0 is very close to the pH of healthy human skin, which is about 5.5. That’s the simple reason why goats milk soap doesn’t dry out and irritate the skin the way that many commercial soaps do. Is there a “best” goats milk soap? At the Stone Creek Farmstead we believe that the milk of Nubian goats may provide the ultimate in goats milk luxury. Nubians don’t produce a high yield of milk, but their milk is exceptionally rich and creamy. Soap produced from Nubians just seems to produce the richest lather and the most moisturizing benefits. We can’t prove it — you’ll have to try it and be your own judge!
