In this 2000 election for U.S. Senate many thousands of Vermont voters are facing a distasteful choice among two proven liberals:
James Jeffords (R)
and
Edward Flanagan (D)
Charlie offers Vermonters a real choice.

CHARLIE'S CAMPAIGN STRATEGY
The Jeffords record is one of higher taxes, opposition to gun rights and property rights, support of partial birth abortion, and support for special privileges for homosexuals. (See The Jeffords Record for more.)
That's just a sampler. For most moderate, middle of the road Vermonters, this is an awful record of left wing activism. The two Democrats are even further to the left, if that's possible.
Charlie Russell is running as an Independent for the U.S. Senate to give Vermonters a real choice.
The Russell campaign will aim at moderates, conservatives, libertarians and constitutionalists. It will work to help them understand that there's not a dime's worth of difference on most of the issues they care about between Jeffords and Flanagan. And it will inform them that they can in good conscience cast a principled vote for a man who reflects their views: Charlie Russell.
The pundits will say that this is a hopeless race. The Left Wing has big money and the support of a party apparatus. That's certainly true. And it's late in the game.
But the Charlie Russell campaign believes that people who can't in good conscience vote for any of the Left Wingers deserve an opportunity to stand up and vote for their beliefs on election day - and not merely hold their noses and vote for the lesser of two evils.
After all, the lesser of two evils is still evil.
